Part of the goal of every Domin Glove representative is to provide professional advice about which Domin Glove will be best suited for your game.  Before choosing your Domin Glove, you should consider which position(s) you’ll play, glove size, web style, and weight.  We believe that it is our duty to help you find the characteristics that best fit your needs as an emerging elite player.  Remember, these suggestions are those of various players that have reached the highest level of play.  We believe that YOU MUST BECOME ONE WITH YOUR GLOVE!!!

Middle Infield

As a middle infielder, your priority is finding a glove that enables you to quickly transfer the ball from glove to hand with smooth and quick actions to get your outs…a must for: (1) double play feeds and pivots, (2) deep backhand plays, (3) slow rollers, (4) and relay throws from the outfield.

For these needs a smaller sized glove would be the best option.  An 11.25” or 11.50” glove would be a good option for you to ensure quick transfer of the ball from your pocket to your hand.  The 11.25” and 11.50” sizes are ideal for both second basemen and shortstops looking to make outstanding plays on a routine basis!

Shortstop/Third basemen

While transferring the ball is very important, some infielders value having more room for error in catching the ball and therefore choose a slightly larger glove. Domin Gloves offer three 11.75” models that are ideal for both third basemen and shortstops.   These larger 11.75” models are ideal for short stops and third basemen that are looking to increase their reach on diving plays.  The 11.5” is also suitable for playing both positions on the left side of the infield.

Outfielders

The glove selection process is very easy for outfielders because one size usually works for all outfielders.  The Domin Glove Series outfield models are offered in 12.75” for both the Trapeze web and H-Web. Some outfielders like the looser, more flexible H-Web pocket, while some prefer the tighter and stiffer feel of the Trapeze Web.  The length of both the H-Web and Trapeze Web outfield models helps funnel fly balls to the deep pockets of each glove. As the professional ballplayers do, we recommend that your place your last two fingers in the pinky slot of the glove. Closing the glove with this technique will ensure that no ball gets away from you while you run around the outfield!

Pitchers

You may have noticed that our pitching gloves are all closed web gloves.  While size is very much about comfort and preference for pitchers, almost all high level pitchers will choose to use a closed web glove so that they can hide as much of their hand and the ball as possible. This helps to keep the opposition from seeing their grip and picking up their pitch.  Infield and outfield gloves come in both open and closed web designs.  The type of web chosen by these players is based solely on preference and feel.

As you know, many amateur players may choose the size of their pitching glove based on the secondary positions that they play.  For example, a pitcher who plays 3rd base when he is not on the mound will most likely get an 11.50” or 11.75” glove so that they can use it for both positions.  A pitcher who also plays second base may go with an 11.25” or most likely an 11.50” glove.
